Lately, I’ve been thinking about the context of health and how we show up online - and this quote from 1984 feels very pertinent for us living in 2025. For me, social media is a lot of fun and allows me to connect with people - but I struggle to keep it under control. I can always tell when it starts to take hold - whether my mood, spending habits, or constant pull for entertainment, and that dopamine hit.

The second Halloween ended last week, the noise ramped up—holiday ideas, endless gift guides, and the push to buy, buy, buy. I find that during the holidays, it’s even easier to get swept up in the noise and consumerism, and I’m thinking through a strategy to keep my head on straight over the next 6 weeks.

How do you manage your social media intake? How do you intend to manage the noise through the “buying” season?

This week we’re rounded up a few of our favorite practitioners for dealing with your gut and as always a round-up of some awesome wellness-related events going on this weekend. And don’t forget - if you’re doing any lab testing to check out our partner Link2Labs for some significant savings.

Thanks to those of you who participated in last week’s poll - if you haven’t yet we would still greatly value your feedback!

Link2Labs has personally saved me thousands of dollars, next week you’ll hear how!

The Gut-Brain Connection

I’ve been digging into the gut-brain connection lately, and it’s incredible how much our digestion impacts our mood, focus, and overall peace. Our latest article breaks it down in simple terms—with things you can start doing today (for free!) to support your gut and calm your nervous system. Plus, I’m sharing five Houston practitioners who are helping people all over Houston, heal.

This week on Instagram I shared the non-toxic dish detergents I’ve tried out. So far, I’m a big fan of Truly Free and am placing another order for more of their powder this week. It does a thorough and streak-free clean. It does take a little getting used to it being in powder form (can be a little messy - but worth it to not eat plastic lol). Molly’s Suds and Attitude have both left a residue and lots of food on dishes.

I’ve had a couple of readers mention that Houston water contributes to the effectiveness of the detergent. If you have a water softener or filtration system, it may be worth further exploring. I also was reminded of Blueland and have it on my list to try as well. I need all of these companies to put together a sample pack!
