Orbit is my guy, and he needs to tell the boys to get it together. We need baseball in October.
Me, in my bestie group chat, every single dental appointment: "Guys! Do we get the fluoride? What about the sealants?"
If you're like me, you're not really thinking about this stuff until you're sitting in the chair. This guide gave me a minute to pause, actually educate myself, and figure out my plan for how I want to move forward.
And I'll say it until I'm blue in the face, we live in an amazing place to ask these questions. We've got so many top-notch spots to get answers, and this topic is no different.
I'm also trying my hand at a new wellness news section, give it a look and let me know what you think! The goal is to bring you local openings, deals, and any relevant wellness news, plus the occasional big-ticket federal update.
Oh and one more thing — we're giving away a Yin & Fang Starter Kit to celebrate the new dental guide! Head to Instagram later today (@woohouston) for how to enter.

New in Houston: Degree Wellness is opening their Memorial location (9778 Katy Fwy) on August 22. Cryo, cold plunge, infrared sauna, contrast therapy, red light, all under one roof. Founding Members get VIP week access before the public grand opening, plus a free session of each service.
In the News: Roughly 35% of the American food industry (including Walmart, Hershey, and Nestlé) has now agreed to eliminate artificial dyes from their products by 2028, per the latest White House update. Slow rollout, but it's moving. Source: Powder & Bulk Solids
Actually important: Check your fridge, there's an active multi-state Salmonella outbreak tied to jalapeños from a Texas supplier. H-E-B, Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods have all issued recalls on prepared foods (pico de gallo, salsas, guac, and salad kits) with use-by dates through mid-August. The outbreak has sickened at least 345 people across 27 states so far. Toss it or check the label before taco night. Source: Click2Houston & Food Safety News

Once you start reading labels on food and skincare, it's kind of inevitable you start wondering what's actually IN a dental filling too. Turns out "holistic" and "biological" dentist aren't quite the same thing; holistic is the broader whole-body philosophy, biological gets more clinical (think mercury-free materials, biocompatibility, the actual science of what's in your crown). Had no idea there was a difference until I went down this rabbit hole.
Our new guide breaks down what it all means and who's doing it right here in Houston. Know what to ask before that next cleaning.
The professional secret to dough is out
Ever tried to make dough in your regular mixer?
The results aren’t pretty: Clumpy texture. Stodgy bread. Overheated motors.
So, how do the pros get it right?
Introducing Ooni Halo Core Spiral Mixer.
Its secret is the same dough-making technology that professional bakers have used for decades.
Until now, most spiral mixers have been industrial-sized machines with industrial-sized price tags.
They also only made dough. And that gets a no from us.
To put the same professional tech into the hands of home bakers, we rebuilt the spiral mixer — creating a mighty little machine that can whip, beat and knead to professional high standards.
