Happy glorious 65-degree morning! Yesterday morning my oldest stepped outside and said β€œit’s freezing outside” and requested he take his sweatshirt to school. These Texas babies… bless. Fall feels like Pavlov’s law though - you hit September and we start salivating for football, pumpkins, candles, incandescent lights, and cozy things.

Speaking of football - I recently became aware of On the Kirb - an organic eatery and sports bar! Has anyone been? If so, reply to this email and let me know if it’s worth swinging by.

Let’s chat all the chatter on candles (RIP all my faves) and some other things to help our minds get into the mood because according to Space City Weather we’re not done with summer.

*Editorial note: We’ve got some really cool local features coming up, if you find Woo helpful or mildly entertaining I’d love for you to share us with your friends.

Beeswax Candle Feature

If you’re like me, giving up candles had me stomping my feet a little and I honestly hadn’t done a lot of research on what exactly was so toxic about them other than taking the word of some of my friends. What I didn’t realize was that swapping out traditional candles for beeswax ones isn’t just about ditching something you loveβ€”it’s about gaining something better. These candles don’t just replace the old; they actively support a cleaner, healthier home.

✨ Read our new guide to learn how beeswax candles can help purify your air and create cozy vibesβ€”without the toxins.

Podcast: A Little Less Toxic on Culture Apothecary

I had one package of microwave popcorn left in my pantry and the windex still under my sink and they both found the trash after this episode with Shawna Holman (@alittlelesstoxic). A couple of my takeaways:

  • Her recipe for homemade cough syrup

  • Ideas for simmer pots to purify the air and make your home smell amazing!

  • Simple (& free) changes to make your home healthier

Cream Cheese Pumpkin Muffin Recipe

If you caught my muffin flop a few weeks back… redemption is here. These are the exact opposite of a flop.

Instagram has actually been delivering lately, and this recipe from @melissas_healthykitchen is a total winner. Gluten-free, sweetened with maple syrup, and officially kid- and neighbor-approved. My baking queen bestie Mallory (hi, Mal!) gave them a glowing reviewβ€”so you know they’re legit. πŸ˜„
